Magnetism is a part of Physics that studies how certain materials and forces can attract (pull together) or repel (push apart) each other.
🧲 Basic Idea
A magnet has two ends called poles:
North pole
South pole
➕ Attraction (Pulling Together)
Opposite poles attract:
North → South
South → North
👉 Example: If you bring a north pole near a south pole, they snap together.
➖ Repulsion (Pushing Apart)
Same poles repel:
North → North
South → South
👉 Example: Two north poles will push away from each other.
⚡ Why It Happens
Magnetism comes from tiny moving electric charges inside atoms. This creates a Magnetic Field—an invisible force around the magnet.
🌍 Where You See Magnetism
Earth acts like a giant magnet (this is why compasses work)
Fridge magnets sticking to metal
Electric motors and generators
🧠 Simple Rule to Remember
Opposites attract, likes repel
